When the HART protocol was developed in the ’80s, it was designed to allow for remote configuration of devices. It wasn’t long before onboard diagnostics were introduced. Valve signatures, soft limits exceeded, etc. The problem was no one had a program to capture this data. With fewer operators and instrument technicians in the field, the challenge with collecting this data has been exacerbated. There are a number of solutions available to capture this data. What are you doing to collect this data and improve your plant reliability?
